Animaniacs!
ETC finally met one of my favorite sibling sets from my childhood – the Warner brothers and the Warner sister (Dot!), and I was THRILLED to revisit this awesome show. My first stop was Yakko’s song where he names all the countries of the world. I’m the kind of nerd that still hopes to learn all the lyrics some day.

Grease is the word
Grease, Grease Live AND Grease 2 are allllllllll on Netflix now, friends! Isn’t it the most? To say the least? I can’t pick a favorite moment from the three to gif, but Aaron Tveit is never wrong, so:

20 years of RENT!
Rent is celebrating 20 years of love this year, and yesterday was the 20th anniversary of its official Broadway opening. If you haven’t seen Rent, fire up Netflix and get yourself acquainted with the magic of Jonathan Larson through the voices of many original Broadway cast members. “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.”

Honorable mentions:
Minions and Hotel Transylvania 2 are recent additions to Netflix – both movies are fun and funny for the whole family, something that isn’t always possible with the opinions of three 5-year-olds.

When ETC first showed me the Lego Friends show on Netflix sometime last year, I was less than impressed. The animation looks totally different from the Lego movie, and the writing made me smirk. My kids liked it, but I didn’t see the appeal, and I could think of far better ways for them to spend their time.

Fast forward to this month when, to celebrate, Netflix sent its Stream Team members a goody box containing two lego sets – one featuring a character from the Netflix Original Lego Bionicle series that premiered this month, and one featuring a character from Lego Friends, which has new Netflix Original episodes.

I can’t be sure whether ETC are finally old enough to have patience to follow a Lego book of directions or they were just that excited to build something they watched on Netflix, but all three of my kids sat down and – from start to finish without stopping – completed their first Lego builds.

I’m down with any shows that encourage new, challenging hands-on activities, so I’m now down with Lego Friends.

My first Friday night dates ever were with the hunky fellas of ABC’s TGIF lineup. I entered the age of childhood crushes as I watched those sitcoms, and I did a happy dance when Netflix announced it was bringing back to life the world of Full House.

Fuller House will not disappoint Tanner (and Gibbler!) fans of years past. The cheese factor is in full effect. If you aren’t expecting it, it’s because 2016 TV has ruined your appetite for the good old days. Beware, though, because Fuller House still hides some tear-jerking moments, just like it did with DJ’s struggles with weight.

Ultimately, the show is exactly as silly and fun and family-loving as it was way back when. Kimmy Gibbler has somehow remained her ridiculous self and gotten appropriately older at the same time, and Stephanie is still as middle child as she can be.

Go into this show expecting your feel-good vibes of past Friday nights, and you won’t be disappointed.

Oh, 2016. I have been anticipating this year since I became a mom in 2010, and it is finally here.

My babies will start kindergarten this year. All of them. Together. Gone.

We have seven months until then, and while I beg the clock to slow down FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I am planning to soak up the freedom before we get caught up in The Ststem.

  • Orlando in three weeks for RunDisney events.
  • Atlanta sometime before April to take advantage of the Georgia Aquarium’s Mommy and Me free weekday admission.
  • Season passes for Cedar Fair amusement parks with as many visits to Carowinds as we can manage plus at least one two-day trip to Cedar Point and probably more than one visit to King’s Island. King’s Dominion isn’t too far, so maybe we’ll visit there simply because we can.
  • So much boating.
  • So much pool time.
  • Invent a time turner or figure out apparition or something because my list is exhausting.

Thankfully we also adventure from our house, too, and we do it while cuddling.

Netflix, you are amazing.

Netflix adventures on our list:

  • Planet Earth
  • Sherlock
  • New episodes of Sofia the First
  • GILMORE GIRLS GILMORE GIRLS GILMORE GIRLS

If you haven’t watched Jessica Jones, that’s one adventure you need to take.

Netflix, when can we have season two? Soon, please!

“Mama, can I stay up to watch the New Year’s countdown?”

“Sure!” … on Netflix. At 7 p.m.

Last year, Netflix introduced a streaming countdown with Madagascar’s King Julian, giving parents the option of counting down a New Year’s Eve celebration with even the littlest party animals.

This year, Netflix is upping their game and is offering not only King Julian’s countdown but five more options: Care Bears and Cousins, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Inspector Gadget, Puffin Rock and Project Mc2.

Happy (well-rested) New Year, friends!
